An introduction to the science of emotion and how emotions are formed

Emotions can often get the best of us. But, if you learn how to manage them, #emotions
can also be a powerful force for good in your life. Basically, emotions are your raw reactions to certain situations. Based on how we react emotionally, our minds are geared to either seek or avoid the stimulus. In general, people run away from pain and run towards pleasure.
We do or move towards things that make us feel good, and (usually!) steer clear from situations that make us feel bad or scare us — by either avoiding them completely, or finding ways to change them.
On the flip side, emotions can be harmful when we allow them to take over and affect our health and wellbeing in a range of detrimental ways:
○ Health: high blood pressure, disruptions to inner circulation, muscular tension or soreness, illness
○ Behavior: aggressively antisocial or hostile behavior, social isolation
○ Mental: fear, depression, rash decision-making
“The above effects are manifestations of stress. The more you allow yourself to get stressed out by situations, the more your anxiety builds. If you don’t do anything to solve the cause of your anxiety, it will simply simmer and stew until it reaches a more painful boiling point.”
But even in such stressful and anxious moments when it feels like everything is closing in
around you and you don’t know what to do, hope is not lost! You just need to know how to
manage your emotional response and be clear minded about your #goals and your chosen
course action.
