Determine your most important aspirations in life

Something to ask yourself is — What do you want? What are your aspirations in life? What do you want to experience in this lifetime? What do you want to achieve? Once you’ve found ways to ground yourself, you’re more anchored to dream of where you want to sail your ship. Take a moment, breathe, and imagine:
Looking at other people and their lives or situations, what type of lives or circumstances do you admire?
What do you want your life to be like?
What do you dream of when you close your eyes and wish for the future? (Try to describe it in 5 words or fewer)
The questions above relate to the ideal life you want. But what is life without purpose? Now that you have an image of a more ideal life, think about how and why you conjured that image:
If money wasn’t a limiting factor, what would you do?
If you could do or get anything you wanted, what would it be?
If you could change anything in your life, what would you change?

Purpose can be seen as an inner force that drives you forward. Another way of seeing purpose is as the defining reason of your being. Being clear of purpose helps crystallise your personal power. It gives you more conviction for the choices you make. A simple way to help identify purpose is to think: “I want [x] because [y]” or “I want [x] so that [y]”. Some people are motivated to emulate certain role models that they admire and look up to. If that is the case for you, think about what aspects of that person’s life or character inspire you to live by their example.
Think about the personal sacrifices many parents make over their lifetime for their children, even being willing in many cases to lay down their own lives. For those parents, the happiness and wellbeing of their children is a singular defining purpose.
The combined alignment of your aspirations and your purpose is the key motivator for your being. That motivation can be a powerful tool to re-centre yourself when you are down.
