Practising mindfulness leads to awareness

Mindfulness is about regulating your attention. Think about it as a form of self-control — self control to be free from distraction (like a mind vacation).
But you don’t need to be a mystic, hermit or monk to have strong mindfulness. Everyone (yes, even you!) has the ability and will to focus and regulate attention. Let your mental energy become more relaxed and focused. This will help you manage your focus better. By focusing your attentions and being more mindfully aware, you can get better control over unfolding events through having greater clarity of your intentions, which in turn leads to more effective behavior.
Thing of mindfulness as a form of mental discipline. The basis is to focus on one task, giving your full attention to that one task, detached from any other mental distraction. Mindfulness is simply about being present. It can be fun, and can be applied easily to your daily routine. Practice mindfulness the next time you have a meal:

● Attention practice — mindful eating (I)
1. Eat with awareness
2. Devote all your attention to your food and the process of eating
— Think in particular of your sensory experiences: taste, texture, smell, sight, sound
3. Appreciate the work that goes into preparing the food
— Notice the details in plating and presentation, and the use of ingredients
4. Be grateful for the food in front of you.
