Engage in constant evaluation and review

Managing your life is like managing a project. Set checkpoints and milestone to see how you are doing, and perform evaluations to re-assess if you are on the right track. Make a habit to spend time alone to reflect and review, using this self-evaluation as the time for personal strategic planning time.

Flexibility in maneuvering is key, as is awareness of how things are so that you don’t operate blindly. This means that you need to be prepared to adjust your plans depending on your evaluations of how well you’ve passed (or not) certain check points.

There is no need to put all your eggs in one basket or to adopt the all-or-nothing attitude. Make sure you have backup or contingency plans, and various routes you can take to achieve your goals.

To give yourself this flexibility, you need to make room for changes and revisions by understanding that everything is a constant process.

If you encounter a setback, see it as feedback that you need to reexamine your strategy.

There is no sure right or wrong way – everything is simply a journey and we are simply enjoying the ride. Park the impatience and anxiety aside to focus on the progress.

And — remember to give yourself pats on the back, laugh, and play along with the journey. Don’t take everything too seriously or you’ll lose sight of unfiltered joy.
