Integrate your strengths with your set purpose and values

Another powerful trifecta is that of your strengths, with your values and senses of purpose. This is particularly useful in defining yourself, both internally in who you are, and externally in how you live your life.
Think of values as an internal moral compass that helps us to make decisions that feel right to us. When something is out of sync with our values, it can lead to discomfort or poor performance. Even if you manage to tolerate a situation that goes against your values, it is unlikely you will continue to stick with it in the long term.
Often, your personal values help shape your overall sense of purpose. If your values are your moral compass, you can think of your sense of purpose as the final destination your values compass is leading you towards.
Finally, if your strengths happen to align both with your values and your sense of purpose, it gives you a much stronger sense of self and you are much more likely to be able to achieve what you believe to be your purpose.
For example, someone may have a strong sense of justice. They believe that they should dedicate their lives to improving the lives of those less fortunate than themselves. They also happen to be extremely skilled lawyers.
That individual is less likely to represent companies or work for law firms whose work in any way increases the suffering of people. They are instead more likely to do pro bono work (i.e. free work) in their spare time, or to work with charities, government agencies, or companies that align with their own value of justice.
